Many times we hear or say the same thing. I don’t know what to wear! or I don’t have anything that fits! Most of the time we are wrong. I am a size 8, no matter how many 1 day detoxes I do I can’t put on a size 2 shirt and think it will look like the girl on Pinterest. Realistically speaking it just won’t. That is why many fashion stylists have followed what is known as a body guide. This will help you understand how to dress for your body. We are all made different and that is the beauty of women. We come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Imagine if we were all the same how boring life would be. So below I have put together a few tips on dressing for your body type!
- Hourglass: Try emphasizing your curves instead of hiding them. Make sure to emphasize your waist will draw attention away from your heavier parts. Wrapped dresses and belted or cinched tops will help show off those amazing curves!
- Bigger on bottom: Try clothes that elongate your top half and balance you out. Aline skirts do this perfectly since they draw more attention to the waist area. Also, any embellished tops will draw attention away from the bottom half and towards the top half.
- Straight: A straight body type is balanced from the top to bottom so there is no curve or definition to the silhouette. However, if you buy ruffled tops or A-line skirts they will help to add definition to the top and the bottom portion of your body.
- Extra in the middle: With this body type you want to avoid focusing on fitted, clingy outfits and high necklines. You want to make sure to draw attention away from the middle of the body by drawing it to the top. V-necks are a great way to draw attention to the top half.
- Bigger on top: Avoid Spaghetti straps or big puffy sleeves. You want to make sure to highlight your best parts and add definition to your hips which would cause to add balance.
